How to download a Facebook video
- Copy the video's link. In the Facebook app, tap Share under the video, then Copy link. On a computer, click the time under the post's name to open the video alone, then copy the address.
- Paste the link in the box above. Links like facebook.com/watch/?v=..., facebook.com/reel/..., fb.watch/... and links to videos on pages all work.
- Choose HD or SD. HD looks sharper; SD is a smaller file for phones.
- Save the MP4.
HD or SD?
| Quality | Picture | Size of a 5-minute video |
|---|---|---|
| HD (720p or 1080p) | Sharp on any screen | about 40 to 120 MB |
| SD (360p or less) | Fine on a small phone screen | about 10 to 30 MB |
Not every video has HD: if the person uploaded it in low quality, only SD is offered.
What can be downloaded
- Public videos on pages, profiles and in public groups.
- Facebook Reels and Facebook Watch videos.
- Videos you posted yourself, as long as the post is public.
Videos in private groups, or shared with "Friends" only, can't be downloaded, because Facebook only shows them to signed-in members. We never ask for your Facebook password.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find the link of a Facebook video on my phone?
Tap the three dots (...) or the Share button on the post, then Copy link. If you only see "Share to Feed", scroll the share menu sideways to find Copy link.
Can I download Facebook live videos?
After the live stream ends and Facebook saves it as a normal video, yes. While it's still live, no.
Why do I only get SD quality?
Facebook only keeps HD for videos uploaded in HD. Older videos, and videos that were re-shared many times, often exist only in SD.
Is it allowed to download Facebook videos?
Saving your own videos is fine. For other people's videos, ask the owner first and give credit if you share them. Re-uploading someone else's video as your own breaks Facebook's rules and copyright law.
Download only videos you made yourself, videos you have permission to save, or videos the owner lets anyone download. Copying or re-uploading other people's videos can break copyright law and Facebook's rules. Calcnio doesn't store videos: each file is fetched from Facebook when you ask for it and deleted from our server within 15 minutes.
