How to download Instagram Reels and videos
- Copy the link. In the Instagram app, tap the paper plane (Share) under the Reel or post, then Copy link. On a computer, copy the address of the post.
- Paste it in the box above. Links like instagram.com/reel/... and instagram.com/p/... both work.
- Pick a quality, usually the best is listed first.
- Save the MP4. It is ready to watch, keep or share.
What works and what doesn't
| Post | Can you download it? |
|---|---|
| Reels from public accounts | Yes |
| Videos in posts from public accounts | Yes |
| Posts from private accounts | No: Instagram only shows them to approved followers |
| Stories and live videos | Not at the moment |
We never ask for your Instagram password. A site that asks for it to "download private videos" can steal your account.
Tips
- Instagram sometimes limits how many videos can be read in a short time. If it says Instagram is limiting us, wait a few minutes and try again.
- A post with several videos (a carousel) gives you the first video. Open the post on a computer to copy a link to one item.
- To keep only the sound, choose MP3 audio when it's offered.
For the same video on other apps, use our TikTok downloader or Facebook video downloader.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to log in to Instagram?
No. Public Reels and videos download without any account.
Does the account owner know I downloaded their Reel?
No. Instagram doesn't tell anyone when a video is downloaded with a link.
Why is the quality lower than in the app?
We save the best version Instagram makes available. For some older or re-shared videos, Instagram only keeps a smaller copy.
Can I repost downloaded Reels?
Only with the creator's permission, and give them credit. Posting someone else's video as your own breaks Instagram's rules and copyright law. Downloading your own Reels as a backup is always fine.
Download only videos you made yourself, videos you have permission to save, or videos the owner lets anyone download. Copying or re-uploading other people's videos can break copyright law and Instagram's rules. Calcnio doesn't store videos: each file is fetched from Instagram when you ask for it and deleted from our server within 15 minutes.
