How to crop a PDF
- Add your PDF. Drop it on the box, paste it with Ctrl+V, or press Select a PDF file. A large preview of the first page appears.
- Set the area to keep. Drag the edges or corners of the blue box. With a mouse you can also draw a new box anywhere on the page. Trim white edges puts the box around the printed content for you.
- Or type the margins. Enter how much to cut from the top, bottom, left and right, in millimeters or inches. The box on the preview follows what you type.
- Choose the pages. Crop All pages with the same margins, or Only the page in the preview. Use the arrows above the preview to move to another page.
- Press Crop PDF and download the new file.
Cropping without losing quality
This tool doesn't redraw your pages or turn them into images. It only changes the part of each page that PDF readers and printers show. So:
- Text stays sharp, and you can still select, search and copy it.
- Images keep their full resolution.
- Links, bookmarks and form fields stay in the file.
Keep in mind that the cut-off parts are hidden, not deleted. They are still inside the file, and someone with a PDF editor could make them visible again. Don't rely on cropping to remove private details such as account numbers.
Tips for a clean crop
- Pages of different sizes: with All pages, the same margins are cut from each edge of every page, so a larger page keeps a larger area.
- Turned pages: margins are measured on the page as you see it, so "top" is always the top of what is on screen.
- Scans with dark edges: drag the box just inside the gray border. Trim white edges only removes white space, so it keeps a dark border inside the box.
- Keyboard: press Tab to reach the box. Arrow keys move it, and Shift with an arrow key changes its size. The margin fields work with the keyboard too.
- Printing: the cropped page is smaller than the paper. Choose "Fit to page" in the print dialog to make it fill the sheet.
Private and fast
The whole job happens in your browser. Your device reads the PDF, changes the page boxes and saves the new file, so nothing is uploaded and even long documents are done in a moment. Each PDF can be up to 200 MB.
Frequently asked questions
Does cropping make my PDF smaller?
Usually not, because the hidden parts stay in the file. To reduce the file size, use Compress PDF after cropping.
Can I crop only one page?
Yes. Go to that page with the arrows above the preview, set the box, and choose Only the page in the preview. The other pages stay as they are.
Can I undo a crop?
Your original file is never changed, because the cropped version is a new download. In the tool, Reset brings back the whole page before you start.
My pages are sideways. Should I rotate them first?
You can crop them as they are. If you also want to turn them, use Rotate PDF before or after cropping.
